Perfection

In a recent post I exhorted people to STOP when God says. The sad truth is, everyone will do something that violates God’s perfection. That’s inevitable. So, why bother? Because in the post before that I mentioned Love is a decision. If you Love God, you’ll do what He commands. At least you’ll try. That’s the category where I live. I try. I have a whole bunch of pet sins that God doesn’t approve of. I won’t list them. It doesn’t matter. God says STOP, and I keep going. But I Love God, and I try to stop. Not long ago I had my first incident of “don’t because it will grieve God.” For years – decades – I’ve tried to stop “that” because God said. This was the first time I actually WANTED to stop. Not because I was afraid of God, but because I knew it would hurt Him. That’s what He wants. Every one of us will sin. We’re not perfect. But we should do our best because it hurts God when we fail. If we ask for forgiveness, it’s given. Then we’re good. Doing it again because we know God will forgive is a dodge – we’re not really following His directives. Sure, we’re not perfect. Sure, God will forgive. That doesn’t mean it’s okay to take advantage of His forgiveness. If we do that, we’re not really followers of God. That makes us unrepentant sinners. And you should already know where that puts you.
