Eve picked the apple (it wasn’t really an apple, by the way) and ate it, so it’s her fault. Right? Wrong. Adam was standing right there, in case you didn’t know. It’s equally his fault. Besides, God put him in charge and he should have told Eve not to eat it. Instead of that, he took the apple and chomped down as well. That’s why we have evil in the world – someone chose to not follow God’s wishes. I used to be irked at those two. “Why did you mess things up for the rest of the world, you thoughtless pinheads?” The thing is, even if they’d remained on the straight and narrow, someone else would have been that thoughtless pinhead. Keep in mind, the world was still pretty close to perfection when Cain offed his brother. If Adam and Eve hadn’t, I’d be willing to bet Cain would had a snack before he killed Abel. If we’ll admit the truth, we’d probably have done the same. My mom told me to not eat any of the chocolate chip cookies she’d just baked. As soon as she packed the laundry in the car and headed for the Laundromat the cookie jar was open. I wasn’t alone. My three sisters were all right there. I bet that apple tasted good. The bible says it looked good. Those cookies smelled good, looked good, and tasted heavenly (pardon my humor). What did it get me? Cavities, diabetes, overweight, and much more. So. I’d have eaten the apple. Chances are you would have, too.
