Do You Know Who I Am?

We’ve all heard the stories of some star or political figure getting confronted by the police. They say, “Do you know who I am?” Doesn’t that tick you off? They want to get away with bad behavior simply because they’re famous. If you or I did That Thing, we’d go to jail – or at least pay a hefty fine. That’s why it’s so irritating, because the rules don’t seem to apply to everyone equally. It’s not fair. But God is fair. God’s rules apply to the drug-addicted homeless wastrel and the President of the United States alike. There’s no getting around them, there’s no paying off the judge, there’s no letting it slide. Or is there? The judge is God. He is fair. Violations will get justice handed out. But . . . Jesus paid for that. “Do you know who He is?”
