The U. S. Secret Service has the job of protecting POTUS – President Of The United States, for those who don’t know. That’s considered The Best Assignment for any agent. They’re trained to the pinnacle of ability to do what it takes to protect POTUS. That includes scouting out locations where the president will appear. They arrive well ahead of the scheduled appearance, plotting the course of how POTUS will move, getting everything in place to make sure the president is the safest he (or she) could possibly be. Sniper roosts are identified. If POTUS will be speaking, banners are hung to block the sight line of possible attackers. Counter-snipers are set up to cover a possible attack from that spot. Agents wear protective vests, are armed to the teeth appropriate for their mission, and only then is POTUS brought in. If, for some reason, a threat is missed, the last line of defense is for an agent to step in front of a bullet to keep POTUS alive. Other agents are tasked with pulling the president out of the line of fire and forcibly dragging him to safety. Jesus was our secret service agent. He was trained from the beginning to accomplish His mission. He was given God’s word to protect Him from the enemy – his bullet-proof vest, if you will. Every weapon the enemy brought against Him was useless. Against us, however, the enemy has a lot of effective weapons. At some point, however, we have to – MUST – either accept the protection of Jesus, or push him aside and act on our own without our secret service agent. If we choose to stand instead of kneel, it’s our choice. But Jesus isn’t acting from training alone. He loves us, like a mother who takes the bullet to protect her children from an active shooter. No good parent would willingly stand aside and watch their child get gunned down by sheer evil. That’s what Jesus did on the cross. Instead of watching, idle, while the enemy attacks us, God gives us our very own secret service agent – one who loves us. He’ll take every possible punishment and attack from Satan, but only if we let him. Don’t push Jesus aside. Don’t stand unprotected in the cross-hairs of the enemy’s sniper scope. Accept the love and protection of Jesus.
Take The Bullet
