The Spackle of God

Waaay back in the old days God instituted a system whereby Abraham and those who came later could have their sins covered up. But that’s just Spackle.

Every year God’s chosen people were supposed to make a sacrifice to cover up their sins. The “contract” between God and Abraham specified that blood was the price of failing to live up to the terms.

But that’s just covering up the sin, not taking it away.

When Jesus took on our sin and paid the price in blood, that debt was paid in full. A lamb’s blood would only cover up our sins for a year, but Jesus’ blood canceled every aspect of our sins, paid every bit of the penalty. He fulfilled that contractual penalty as the perfect sacrifice.

Jesus was the true Lamb of God, not the Spackle of God.
