There are three types of people.
1 - Committed Christians.
2 - Wishy-washy Christians.
3 - Non-Christians.
I’d like to talk about #2, because the first and third are pretty cut and dried.
The second is a kinda-sorta-maybe kind of person (I used to be one) who likes the idea of God, Jesus, and “all that stuff,” but doesn’t take it too seriously. They don’t want to take Jesus overly-seriously. It’s okay on Sunday.
I contend #2 doesn’t exist.
As I mentioned above, they like the idea of God and Jesus. They meander thought life, living the way THEY like, because, “I believe in that God stuff. I’m golden.”
Uh, no. You’re not golden.
God says to love Him above all else. That means you don’t get to live the way you like. If you’re living the way you like, you’re not putting Him first in your life. That means your god is . . . yourself.
I know people who claim to believe in God but don’t believe in the Bible. They pick and choose, “this,” “that,” and “that other thing.” But if you are your standard, then God is not.
As mentioned in an earlier post, your treasure is where your heart (thought) is. If you think you are the arbiter of what’s right and wrong (Garden of Eden ring a bell?), then you’re going to be surprised when you stand before Him. That surprise won’t be pleasant.
It’s been said “God seconds the motion.” See my earlier posts for more on that. So when you stand before the Judge of all creation, He’ll give you what you most wanted.
If you want yourself more than Him, then that’s what you’ll get - eternal separation from God.
A.K.A. Hell.
